Badger's Brook 2005 Estate Shiraz
The grapes for this wine were picked in Autumn and were given extended maturation after crushing with a gentle pump over of the must. The wine was then placed into a combination of French and American Oak for 2 years.
This wine is a rich full flavoured Shiraz showing blackberry characters with a hint of white pepper. The palate is rich and quite savoury with some lovely dusty oak nuances. The wine has an almost silky mouth feel and the tannins on the finish are now quite restrained.
Bottled with a screw cap this wine should continue to develop over the next 5 years. |

The 2002 vintage was very low yielding producing a more concentrated and powerful wine. As expected the 2002 Shiraz is more intense than 2001 with a firmer mouth feel and savoury tannins.
