Badger's Brook 2007 Estate Merlot
The fruit for this wine was cropped at less than 2 tonne to the acre, and is no light weight. The nose displays rich plum and Mulberry nuances. There is also a strong presence of cedar from the two years spent in quality French and American Oak. The palate is rich and robust showing rich dark berry flavours. The finish is long and robust. |

Five Oaks 2004 Merlot
This is the fourth Merlot to be bottled under our label. Harvested in early May, the fruit was cool-fermented for 14 days in open tank, and the wine matured for 18 months in fine-grained French oak barrels. Bottled 5 December 2005, the wine was released in early December 2006.
This is a lighter-bodied Merlot, displaying red berry with hints of plum and violet aromas and flavours and a palate. Fine oak tannins complement the soft palate. Bottle ageing: 4 to 5 years. |

Five Oaks 2005 Merlot
The 2005 Merlot was bottled with screw caps on 6 December 2006, "rested" for a year post bottling and released in early December 2007. The wine is opaque with a deep dark purple colour.
It has intense ripe dark berry fruit, dark plum and spice aromas and flavours with hints of chocolate and savoury/earthy characters. Spicy American oak and fine tannins combine with the fruit flavours to give a rich, soft palate and long velvety finish. We estimate this wine will be at its best between 2012 and 2014. |

2005 was a low yielding, warm and dry vintage in the Yarra Valley. Throughout the vintage, the weather conditions were temperate and dry. The Yileena Park vineyard enjoyed and uninterrupted, warm ripening period ensuring the development of classic cool climate flavours and balanced acidity.
This cool vintage, multi-layered, medium-bodied Merlot exhibits aromas of blackberry, mulbury and plum. This is further complemented by savory spicy oak.
The palate is rich and soft with velvety fine grained tannins and a long fresh lingering finish.
The wine is made from hand-picked estate grown fruit and will reward medium term cellaring to this decade's end. Drinking beautifully now. |
