The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot is an 82% Cabernet, 18% Merlot blend that was bottled at the end of January 2003. The wine displays a medium red colour with purple hues. It has rich ripe blackcurrant, black cherry nose with hints of savoury, minty characters that also come through on the palate.
The berry fruit flavours are nicely complimented by ripe tannins and well-integrated French oak, giving the wine a smooth, medium bodied mouth feel. This is a wine that had benefited from 5 years of careful cellaring, is drinking beautifully now and should be at its best until 2010.
